About the RoleAs a data advocate, you'll leverage software engineering best practices to design scalable and reusable data solutions that empower clients to gain insights, drive decisions, and deliver business value. You'll work with a wide range of tools and technologies, constantly learning and growing.
In this role, you'll combine software engineering discipline with expertise in building data solutions to deliver tangible business outcomes. As a BJSS data engineer, you'll help clients deploy data pipelines and processes safely in production, utilising the latest technologies within a DataOps culture.
You'll collaborate in fast-paced, agile environments with multi-disciplinary teams of skilled consultants, delivering modern data platforms to large organisations.
Expect to engage in various projects across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), exploring and applying data services such as Databricks, Data Factory, Synapse, Kafka, Redshift, Glue, Athena, BigQuery, S3, Cloud Data Fusion, and more.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop reliable, efficient data applications, systems, services, and platforms.
- Foster a deep understanding of coding best practices, design patterns, and experience with code and data versioning, dependency management, code quality and optimisation, error handling, logging, monitoring, validation, and alerting.
- Develop well-tested object-oriented Python code.
- Utilise CI/CD tooling to analyse, build, test, and deploy your code.
- Maintain a strong grasp of design choices for data storage and data processing, focusing on cloud data services.
- Apply parallel computing to process large datasets and optimise computationally intensive tasks.
- Deploy, schedule, and monitor components programmatically in a workflow.
- Write complex queries against relational and non-relational data stores.
