Job Overview

This role is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to join the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as an Endoscopy Decontamination Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and manually cleaning flexible endoscopes, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

The role involves working in a fast-paced environment, utilizing computer systems to track and manage endoscope inventory. As a member of the team, you will contribute to maintaining high-quality patient care by adhering to decontamination practices and protocols.

This is a training post, with the opportunity to progress to Band 3 upon completion of necessary skills and/or training. The salary range for this position is £23,615 to £25,674 per annum, pro rata for part-time staff.

About the Role

As an Endoscopy Decontamination Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Testing and manually cleaning flexible endoscopes
  • Unloading scopes and placing them into storage
  • Conducting quality checks throughout the process

You will work closely with the team to ensure seamless operations and maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Educated to GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths
  • NVQ level 2 in Health care or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Decontamination background in endoscopy or sterile services
  • Understanding of decontamination practices and its importance to patient care and quality control
Working Arrangements

This role is based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, with opportunities to work across other sites within the Trust. You will be expected to work alternating shifts between 7pm and adhere to the demands of the Service Users.
