Rail Operations Manager Role

We are seeking an experienced Rail Operations Manager to lead our team at the Brighton Rail Depot. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable operation of the depot.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Lead and motivate a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Oversee safety protocols, conduct regular audits and risk assessments, and maintain the highest safety standards.
  • Coordinate and monitor maintenance activities, implement preventative maintenance schedules, and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and manage the depot's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising safety or quality.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a managerial role within the rail industry, preferably in depot or maintenance operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • In-depth knowledge of rail safety regulations and maintenance standards.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Budget management experience is essential.
  • A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
