This is a challenging role for a skilled Project Engineer to join our team in Honiton. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing engineering projects from planning to delivery. You will work closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate customer requirements into actionable engineering tasks, working closely with the Project Manager from planning to production.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers and build teams to create, plan, and deliver a manufactured product to the customer. Daily tasks will include design work, checking and fault-finding drawings, and practical testing of parts and systems.
- Manage the design team to ensure a shared understanding of the customer's requirements, aligning with quality and assurance standards, and supported by senior Project and Principal Engineers.
- Maintain a high level of automotive engineering knowledge across all aspects of design and build, from the first concept drawing to final testing and handover to the customer.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and influence internally and with external agencies.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks (adaptation training available).
- Knowledge of drawing standards including BS 8888, geometrical tolerancing, welding specifications, etc.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and MS Project.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) at all levels, including with suppliers and customers.
- Computer literate with the ability to adapt to different software.
- Competent in report writing and project information recording.
- Basic computer troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in managing staff (desirable).
- Experience with drawing issue control using PDM (desirable).
- Familiarity with the design and function of automotive systems (desirable).
- Ability to perform structural analysis using first principles and FEA (desirable).
- Experience with vehicle testing using data logging and other instrumentation (desirable).
- Presentation skills (desirable).
- Experience using ERP and MRP systems (desirable).
