Production Manager Job Description

Village Enterprise is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day activities of our machine shop and production cells.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate production activities to ensure efficient and effective operation of the machine shop and production cells.
  • Oversee the management of labour and resources to meet production targets and plant output.
  • Work closely with senior management to improve yield and quality objectives.
  • Ensure the production departments are equipped for the next shift/day, including all necessary personnel, materials, PPE, and work instructions.
  • Identify potential problems and work with the Operations Director to implement solutions.
  • Investigate complaints and work to eliminate the root cause.
  • Introduce and maintain modern clean-in-place (CIP) techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and communicate management objectives and targets with Team Leaders.
  • Ensure the shifts are fully manned and motivate staff to achieve optimum performance.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are met.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience at managerial level within a busy machine shop.
  • HNC equivalent or higher in an engineering, science, or management subject.
  • Good working knowledge of modern CNC machining centres, lathes, and milling machines.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems.
  • Previous experience of working to budgets and constraints.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong self-motivation with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent computer, literacy, and numeracy skills.
What We Offer:

Village Enterprise offers a competitive salary of £40,000 to £45,000 per annum, dependent on current experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include a contributory pension scheme, healthcare cash plan, cycle to work and childcare voucher schemes, and free car parking.

Hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5pm and Friday 8:30am to 12:30pm.
