Transport Workshop Operations Manager

Are you a seasoned Workshop Manager looking for a new challenge? Our client, a leading organisation in the transport industry, is seeking a dynamic and proactive individual to join their team as a Workshop Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills and contribute to the smooth operation of their Transport Workshop facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop facility, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- Authorise repairs, servicing, and modification tasks as directed by the Transport Manager, ensuring compliance with road transport legislation and maintenance manuals.
- Set service schedules and report any slippage to the Transport Manager, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Compile and review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a monthly and annual basis, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
- Manage all documentation related to performance management and vehicle records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Organise and plan training courses for workshop staff, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
- Maintain health and safety standards in the workshop facility, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents and near misses on vehicles and in the workshop, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers for lead times of parts, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing delays.
- Supervise Workshop Co-Ordinator, admin, and stores staff, providing guidance and support to ensure effective team performance.
- Assist the Transport Manager with new vehicle inspections, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular focus group meetings and tool box talks, enhancing communication and collaboration among team members.
- Provide on-call support on a rota basis, ensuring 24/7 availability and responsiveness.
- Proven experience as a Workshop Manager or similar role, with a strong track record of success.
- Sound knowledge of transport workshop operations and vehicle maintenance, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- Ability to plan and organise resources effectively, with a focus on achieving goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
- Valid driver's licence, with a clean driving record.
