About Your New Role

Our Property Litigation team at Weightmans acts for a diverse range of clients, including public and private sector landlords, tenants, and real estate developers. As a Paralegal, you will assist case handlers in property litigation matters, focusing on housing disrepair and gas/electrical access work. You may also be involved in other property litigation, such as routine lease renewals, property disputes, and housing matters.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Lexcel and internal procedures
  • Assist with and oversee money laundering checks on all new matters, subject to supervision
  • Support case handlers on housing disrepair and other cases
  • Run your own caseload on property litigation and housing matters in due course
  • Interact with clients and third parties, requiring excellent communication skills
  • Prepare and copy trial and hearing bundles
  • Prepare and copy enclosure for papers to counsel and court (or agents)
  • Photocopying/electronic bundling for case handlers and secretaries
  • File management duties, indexing, and collating large case papers
  • Attend minor applications at court (in chambers)
  • Closing and archiving files
  • Assist with client reporting
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining precedent files for the team
  • Perform other administrative and fee-earning duties as required

About You

We are looking for a Paralegal with previous experience in property litigation and a genuine interest in the area. You should have excellent organisational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
