The Role: Head of Quality

This role has overall responsibility for the quality of the products that graze sells to our customers. You will work with our New Product Development team to ensure they are working to the required standards and with our suppliers to ensure that the quality of materials coming into the factory is as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for all aspects of Food Safety, including ownership and deployment of the quality management system, HACCP, and ensuring operational follow-up to Non-Conformances.
  • Drive a culture of Quality First Mindset through the operational teams at the site, to enhance the product quality experience of the consumer and ensure food safety standards are exceeded every day.
  • Create a manufacturing environment that is always improving by coaching functional teams on how to effectively identify the root cause of non-conformities.
  • Lead complaint reduction projects and ensure the delivery of relevant KPI and improvement plans, when needed, by cultivating positive relationships and deploying effective strategies/solutions.
  • Support the site in the delivery and launch of new and existing product development and operational improvement through cooperating with the innovation delivery team.

What We're Looking For

  • University degree in Science, Food Technology/Science, Engineering, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Proven track record of methodical thinking and project management.
  • Good knowledge of Manufacturing and Process Improvement.
  • Engaging and able to influence all levels.
  • Good observation and auditing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to translate data into action and follow-through.
  • Collaborative and strong communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency, esp. Excel, Word, Office.
  • Flexible, motivated individual with the ability to adapt quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to guide colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible Worker The role is based on normal site office hours. However, must be prepared to flex schedule as needed to support shift-based colleagues due to the site being 24/4 facility.
  • 3-5 years experience in a factory-based role.
  • Working knowledge of BRC and industry regulations.
  • HACCP Level 3.

What We Expect in Your First 6 Months

  • Gain an understanding of the site activities and develop relationships with the Technical and wider site team.
  • Be a change maker: You have a bias for action that is second to none. You collaborate with everyone around you towards a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Love to win and have fun doing it: Take on a previously unresolved issue, lead the analysis, and put in place a brilliant smart fix of the true cause.
  • Take the role of a teacher: You strive to show not just the How but the Why product safety & quality is at the utmost importance for yourself and others around you.
  • Hit the ground running, coordinating the business's audit schedule both internal and external.

What's in It for You?

  • You'll be part of a company where you can have fun, enjoy free snacks (very important) and pick up new skills to really take your experience to the next level.
  • 25 days holiday, plus Bank Holidays (To reflect our diverse workforce, four Bank Holidays are interchangeable).
  • We want you to be your authentic self every single day - so we create an environment where you feel like you belong, in any (and every) way that's right for you. Plus, we have a dedicated diversity and inclusion employee resource group that you're welcome to join.
  • We encourage active learning, so you can enjoy networking events, learning lunches, and even more formal qualifications - whatever you need to do the best job possible.
  • You'll be working with some seriously smart, informed, helpful, funny, dedicated (and very, very modest) people at graze HQ.
  • You'll be part of an open, inclusive, and pioneering team. What could be better?
  • You can enjoy our discounted gym membership.
  • You'll get all the standard benefits including a pension, a yearly bonus, health insurance, and so much more.
  • Access to Bippit, an all-in-one financial wellbeing platform, which includes unlimited 1:1 coaching from a finance professional.
  • A family-friendly policy which includes Paternity Leave, Ordinary Parental Leave, Undergoing IVF Treatment, Pregnancy Loss & Bereavement.
  • We also offer one paid volunteering day and one health day each year on top of your annual leave allowance, to use however you wish.
  • As you will be working in Hayes and are food-focused in our factory, we are pleased to provide you with a few tasty and healthy breakfast options.

As graze is unable to offer visa sponsorship, you must be eligible to live and work in the UK to apply for this vacancy.

Let us know if you have accessibility requirements for the interview process and we'll ensure that all your needs are provided for.

Please feel free to include which pronouns you use (such as she/her/hers, he/him/his, they/them/theirs etc.) in your application.
