About the Role

We are seeking an experienced legal professional to join our team as a Senior Council. This is a full-time role with a competitive salary of up to £51,515 per annum.

You will provide strategic legal advice to the government, supporting the AIG's Directorates in achieving their objectives and contributing to good governance by identifying, mitigating, and managing legal risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage litigation brought against or by the Government, including civil and employment litigation, and act as prosecuting authority in criminal matters
  • Provide legal support for the legislative agenda, offering policy development advice, liaising with external lawyers on drafting legislation, and supporting post-legislative implementation
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience as a Solicitor or Barrister, with both litigation and advisory work
  • Knowledgeable, adaptable, and resilient with high personal integrity
  • Experience in managing competing demands, prioritizing effectively, and working under minimal supervision
  • Ability to deliver key complex legal issues within deadlines
