About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Accountant to join our Group Finance Team and play a crucial role in financial accounting and reporting processes. You will assist in producing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as budget forecasting. The role will also be involved in ad hoc Group Finance projects.

The role can be based anywhere in the North West and will involve some days in our office in Bamber Bridge, Preston. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the production of the monthly Group consolidated accounts.
  • Review and challenge of management accounts.
  • Monthly reconciliation and review of balance sheet accounts.
  • Support various external and internal audits.
  • Assist in the production of annual reports and accounts.
  • Provide KPI reporting with insightful analysis.
  • Assist in the consolidation and production of budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide technical guidance to Group Companies.
  • Support the Chief Accountant in identifying and implementing process efficiencies and improvements to drive a faster month-end close process.
  • Provide system support on Group Consolidation package (Cognos) to Group Companies.
  • Support Cognos improvements and upgrades projects.
  • Support remediation of identified internal controls gaps.
  • Contribute to updates of the accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required.

About the Candidate

We are looking for a candidate with a continuous improvement mindset, a professional qualification in accounting (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA), and a proven track record of improving and streamlining processes and policies. Ideal candidates will have experience within a group accounting team, Cognos experience, and a strong technical accounting background (IFRS). We require candidates to be highly numerate and analytical, confident communicators, and effective organisational ability and time management skills are crucial, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
