Job Overview

The Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) role at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a high degree of autonomy and complex decision-making. The ANNP will work closely with the neonatal team to provide advanced nursing care to critically ill newborns, and will be responsible for assessing, examining, diagnosing, and treating patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Main Duties
  • Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill newborns, including stabilization, intensive, and high dependency care.
  • Work closely with the neonatal team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Assess, examine, diagnose, and treat patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.
  • Participate in education and training programs to stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and guidelines.

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a general district hospital that provides care to families across West Dorset. The hospital has a dedicated level 1 Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) that routinely cares for infants >32/40 and >1250g. The ANNP will work in a team environment to provide high-quality care to patients and their families, and will have the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Person Specification
  • Registered nurse with a qualification in neonatal speciality.
  • ANNP qualification or Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice: Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
  • Registered non-medical prescriber.
