The CT Support Radiographic Department Assistant plays a vital role in the CT Department, undertaking various responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients in preparing for their CT scans, including transporting patients on trolleys and in wheelchairs from the Emergency Department to the CT Department.
- Explain procedures to patients, requiring empathy and effective communication skills to address patient anxiety and distress.
- Perform basic nursing duties and care of patients, including dealing with bodily fluids and assisting patients with vomit bowls and bedpans.
- Input and access data into the department computer systems, such as the Radiology Information system (RIS), EPR blood result system, and the electronic portering system (TMS).
- Ensure the scan rooms are clean and prepared for the next examination, and maintain stock levels.
- Liaise with other wards, departments, and staff members to arrange patient examinations.
- Assist patients on and off scan beds from both wheelchairs and trolleys, following appropriate manual handling training.
- Literate and numerate with basic computer skills.
- Evidence of interest or experience in a caring role.
- Evidence of teamwork and ability to multitask.
- Able to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
