About the Role:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at a school in Hedge End. Our schools are committed to nurturing and developing passionate professionals who are dedicated to supporting students with special needs.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact by providing exceptional support and guidance to students in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students on a one-on-one basis, providing tailored support to meet their unique mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to implement strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Be a calming presence during challenging situations, offering immediate support and helping students navigate difficult emotions.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, providing updates on students' progress and collaborating on strategies for continued support at home.
  • Working in classrooms supporting Teachers and fellow Teaching Assistants.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field
  • Experience working with children in a mental health or educational setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compassion and empathy for the well-being of children
  • Experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
