Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Author to join our client's team in the aerospace industry. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in technical writing within engineering and proficiency in various Aerospace Industry writing specifications, including Simplified English.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Conducting research on technical requirements for publications by referencing engineering drawings, CAD models, production standards, processes, industry specifications, and related component hardware.
  2. Compiling new and standard technical publications using Aerospace recognised techniques, including data structures, formatting, style, and detail.
  3. Identifying and specifying illustration requirements and usage to meet industry standards.
  4. Proofreading documents before passing them into quality systems.
  5. Creating Illustrated Parts Catalogues in accordance with Aerospace industry specifications and equipment maintenance policies.
  6. Applying data configuration control and archiving techniques, as well as data management processes.
  7. Managing allocated workloads within task deadlines and maintaining accurate man-hour control.
  8. Applying Common Source Database and Content Management methodologies related to technical publications' production, storage, and delivery.
  9. Working with desktop publishing software, such as SGML, XML, and DITA.
  10. Utilizing mechanical engineering and technical authorship skills.
  11. Planning and organising tasks effectively.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in technical writing within the engineering field, preferably in Aerospace.
  • Proficiency in various Aerospace Industry writing specifications, including Simplified English.
  • Familiarity with IETM development and deployment, as well as comprehension of data management techniques and complementary quality processes.
  • Excellent research, compilation, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work with new Publishing production tools and processes, including SGML, XML, and DITA.
  • Practical experience of mechanical engineering and technical authorship.
