Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Job Description:

Our client, a leading construction firm in the North East of Scotland, is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in managing the costs of construction projects from inception to completion.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and financial plans to ensure timely completion and cost control.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to inform project decisions.
  • Manage tender documentation, evaluation, and contract negotiations to secure the best deals for the company.
  • Value completed work and ensure timely payment to contractors and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with contractors, project managers, and directors to ensure cost control and contract compliance.
  • Provide regular financial reporting, cost analysis, and forecasting to inform business decisions.
  • Measure and value variations to the contract to ensure accurate cost management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and other legal obligations.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and contract arrangements to optimize project outcomes.
  • Perform risk and value management assessments to identify potential issues and opportunities.
Key Requirements:

  • Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Professional membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or similar is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably in housebuilding.
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations, contracts, and cost control procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software, such as Microsoft Office and cost management tools.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
