About Us: Very Important Personnel (VIP) is a leading provider of construction and building services in Birmingham. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Yard Manager to join our team.
Job Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our yard, ensuring the efficient use of equipment, materials, and personnel. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and organized individual to take on a key role in our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery, tools, and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly maintained.
- Logistics and Inventory Control: Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring they are available when needed and tracking inventory levels.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise and support a team member, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and providing guidance and training as required.
- Health and Safety: Enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety inspections, and provide training to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communication: Liaise with Contracts Managers, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to address any yard-related issues and maintain relationships.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including inventory, equipment logs, and safety documentation.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience working in a construction or building environment, preferably in a yard management or supervisory role.
- Qualifications: SMSTS or SSSTS certification, CSCS card, and fork lift certification (advantageous).
- Skills: Good IT skills, full UK driving license, knowledge of health and safety, and strong communication skills.
