Company Overview:
Fusion energy is a crucial step towards combating climate change and ensuring energy independence. The UK Government has established UK Industrial Fusion Solutions (UKIFS) Ltd., a subsidiary of UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), to lead the charge in delivering fusion energy through design and delivery of the Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) prototype fusion plant.

The UKIFS aims to deliver the world's first prototype fusion energy plant by 2040, driving a path to the commercial viability of fusion. As an employee of UKIFS, you will be part of a team that is shaping the future of energy production.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will have a strong background in cost engineering, with experience in infrastructure/engineering environments. They will work closely with the project team to estimate costs and develop integrated cost-optimized designs for the STEP programme.

The role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.

Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • A degree in engineering/scientific discipline or significant experience of working in an engineering field.
  • Strong cost engineering background in infrastructure/engineering environments with good technical understanding and interest in integrated fusion power plant design, or strong knowledge of fusion power plant integration and interest in costs.
