Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspection and diagnostic testing of electrical plant and apparatus

Requirements:
  • GCSE level or equivalent education
  • City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution an advantage
  • Ability to learn on the job
  • Understanding of the Electricity at Work Act
  • Trained in First Aid
  • Awareness of Health & Safety policies
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Ability to integrate well in a team and promote good teamwork
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation
  • Computer literacy to undertake data input onto handheld devices
Measures of Success:

  • Restore supply and complete works promptly following safety requirements
  • Use materials and audit check tools to ensure materials ordered match job costs
  • Ensure tools and equipment are within test dates and calibrated
  • Jobs are signed off by completion of task instructions and undertaken safely to quality, cost, and time
  • Feedback from colleagues, customers, and other organisations demonstrates procedures are understood and undertaken by the post holder
Health & Safety Responsibilities:

Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control, and those who might be affected by the work undertaken. This includes briefing individuals working for them and ensuring there is the necessary understanding, competence, and application of requirements to work safely and without harming the environment.

Employees will ensure they understand the health and safety risks involved in their work activities and their responsibility to apply the controls needed to manage those risks to acceptable levels. Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.
