About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional Academic Expert to join our team as a Lecturer in Late Roman / Medieval History with Latin. The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field or be within 12 months of award. This is a 0.8FTE one-year fixed-term appointment starting September 2024.

The ideal candidate will have experience in undergraduate teaching, including the teaching of Latin, as well as an active program of scholarship and/or research. They will be required to teach 'The Fall of Rome', a first-year undergraduate module exploring the decline of the Roman Empire between the third and seventh centuries AD.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate will contribute to the department's teaching programme at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will also be expected to serve in an administrative role and play a full part as a member of the History department community.
