Job Title: Principal Capability Engineer

Leonardo is seeking a highly skilled Principal Capability Engineer to join our Future Combat Air (FCA)/GCAP department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of combat air capabilities.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a driven individual to provide technical and strategic support to Multifunction Processing (MFP) and Digital Backbone (DBB) areas. You will work closely with our Programme and Engineering delivery teams to ensure customer desirements and input form part of the delivery programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure capability techno-strategic input into FCAS-AP and FCAS-TI programme delivery
  2. Support MFP/DBB technology and engineering delivery road-map development
  3. Support GCAP Operational Analysis in the context of MFP/DBB capabilities
  4. Ownership of the ISANKE MFP Capability Demand Signal, liaising between FCA Capability team and Engineering functions, and other LoBs, to maintain, iterate and update the document.
  5. Lead and manage the organisation, facilitation and lessons/actions/data capture for MFP/DBB in MAP Technology Reviews, TEMPEST Quarterly and Programme Technology Reviews, ensuring maximum stakeholder engagement and participation.
  6. Lead and manage the set-up, organisation, facilitation and lessons/actions/data capture for the cross-LoB FAST forum.
  7. Work with Head of FCAS Technologies and Head of Operational Capability to inform MFP/DBB technical requirements capture
  8. Collaborate across FCA and all other LoBs to ensure pro-active interaction and information sharing between all LoB FCAS capability stakeholders (CTOs, CMs and CEs).
  9. Provide Capability Team input to appropriate FCAS-AP WP2 MFP/DBB and TT TDP WP4.1 MFP/DBB strands and facilitate provision of appropriate Capability support to the FCA Engineering Team
  10. Support horizon scouting for disruptive technologies, applied research ideation and exploratory exploitation of MFP/DBB technical concepts and problem/solution space
  11. Support GCAP international development activities in the MFP/DBB area
Requirements:

We are looking for a degree-educated individual with career experience in Engineering R&D and a demonstrated experience of building effective relationships with relevant project stakeholders across Government and Industry Partners. Experience in early Technology Development stages of a Programme lifecycle would be beneficial. Knowledge of and experience with situational awareness and non-kinetic effecting concepts, tools and methodologies within the Combat Air domain is highly desirable but not essential.
