Job Overview

The Thames Valley Vascular Network provides comprehensive care to a population of over 1 million across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire. The network consists of three NHS trusts: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Royal Berkshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The postholder will be employed by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the network to develop effective and efficient patient pathways.

The successful applicant will join a team of experienced professionals, including nine consultant vascular surgeons, eight consultant interventional radiologists, and seven vascular clinical nurse specialists within the TVVN.

Main Duties of the Job

The postholder's duties will be based in the John Radcliffe Hospital and will cover the full range of elective and emergency endovascular and open surgery in Oxford. The postholder will work within a team that covers Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire patients and will be expected to provide cross-cover for leave.

The department runs a Consultant of the Week arrangement for on-call cover, and the responsibility for all in-patients rests with the Consultant of the Week when the postholder is off-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake all aspects of vascular surgery, including aortic disorders, carotid endarterectomy, complex management of peripheral vascular disease, and management of venous disease.
• Work closely with the cardiac service to offer a comprehensive service for aortic disorders.
• Develop and maintain effective and efficient patient pathways across the network.
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide a comprehensive service for vascular patients.
