Position Overview:
Step into a rewarding role as our new Service Engineer, where your primary duties will encompass a range of service activities, including installations, repairs, maintenance, and technical support for Unity Lab Services. You will focus on our advanced analytical systems, particularly in the areas of Chromatography, Molecular Analysis, Sample Preparation, and Discrete Industrial Analyzers, primarily serving clients in Scotland and Northern England, with occasional travel across the UK and Ireland.
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional customer service that fosters client satisfaction.
- Achieve high first-time fix rates and minimize mean time to repair.
- Reduce the frequency of repeat service calls.
- Support overall service objectives related to bookings, revenue, service profitability, and overhead costs while adhering to internal protocols and practices.
As a Service Engineer, you will:
- Execute field service tasks in compliance with internal guidelines, customer regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Receive specialized training on our UV-Vis, FTIR, and Molecular product lines, with opportunities to expand your expertise to Chromatography and Sample Preparation instruments.
- Provide on-site services that exceed customer expectations, ensuring that clients become advocates for our brand through positive feedback.
- Maintain a professional relationship with our customer base, promptly addressing technical issues to resolve critical tasks efficiently.
- Facilitate customer success through collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific, utilizing web-based tools to log sales leads and ensure clients are informed about relevant products and services.
- Optimize your work schedule by coordinating with necessary partners for service planning.
- Manage company assets, including parts inventory, laptops, mobile devices, testing equipment, tools, software, and company vehicles.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of field service activities and expense reports.
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking individuals with:
- A background in Electronics, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related fields.
- A minimum of one year of experience in servicing analytical equipment, with equivalent experience in applications or end-user roles considered valuable.
- Knowledge of UV-Vis, FTIR, Molecular, Liquid Chromatography, Ion Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Sample Preparation, or high-throughput testing is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal, self-motivation, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in PC literacy.
- A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel within the designated territory, Monday to Friday, with occasional overnight stays.
- Good command of English, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across various levels and functions.
