We are currently seeking a highly skilled Criticality Safety Assessor to join our major projects team.

Purpose and Scope:

This is a challenging role that involves providing nuclear criticality modelling and safety assessment as part of our major programme safety case team.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking criticality assessment and associated activities interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management functions.
  • Acting in a criticality or equivalent role.
  • Supporting the Safety Case Manager.
  • Supporting wider EUP safety case and engineering leads when required.
  • Assisting the Head of Profession in capability development and establishment of resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence.
  • Advising Amentum and Client leadership, engineering, programme, and project management, and clients on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  • Interfacing with suppliers as necessary.
  • Supporting the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent education is highly desirable.
  • UK and International standards and practices, American Nuclear Society, and ONR Technical Assessment Guides.
  • Nuclear criticality safety assessment and HAZAN production.
  • Experience with relevant code (MONK, MCNP, etc.) application in a wide range of operations and fault scenarios.
  • Knowledge of various nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
  • Good MS applications, organizational skills, and ability to perform detail-oriented work.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  • Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
  • Experience of international nuclear safety assessment.
  • Project management and project controls.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Ability to mentor and coach.

This role requires the ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and a willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
