About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gastroenterology Consultant to join our team at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. As a key member of our gastroenterology service, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients, including outpatient, inpatient, and endoscopic services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive gastroenterology services, including endoscopy, to patients with a range of gastrointestinal conditions.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of the gastroenterology service, ensuring that it meets national and NICE frameworks.
  • Supervise and manage junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Contribute to teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, as well as continuing medical education activities.
  • Engage in medical audit and clinical effectiveness activities, fostering improvements in quality and standards.

About the Team

The Gastroenterology Service at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust provides general and sub-specialty outpatient and inpatient care for gastroenterology and hepatology, including suspected cancers. We have a strong focus on providing high-quality patient care and are committed to ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • Higher UK qualification, such as MRCP or equivalent recognized by the GMC.
  • Knowledge and application of up-to-date evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
  • Experience in postgraduate teaching.
