Edge Careers is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Ipswich. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in providing competent estimating services and working on winning tenders to maximize the financial effectiveness and profitability of the business.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Understand, produce, and evaluate tender packages.
  • Measure, formulate tender submissions, perform risk analysis, prepare and agree estimates of tenders from first principals pricing, and review with senior leads.
  • Engage and obtain specialist sub-contractor/supplier quotes.
  • Maintain tender, sub-contractor, and supplier databases.
  • Identify and analyze risk and opportunities.
  • Collaborate, present, and discuss tender submission with senior leads and clients.
  • Review, agree, implement, and improve processes as required.
  • Provide support to project teams.
  • Prepare and issue sub-contract enquiries and assessments of quotations upon return.
  • Arrange and coordinate site inspections/surveys.
  • Manage post-tender queries, clarifications, and negotiations.
  • Prepare and handover to the project team on successful tenders.
  • Report to and provide support to senior management.
  • Act professionally with integrity at all times and promote business/client best interests.


Requirements:


  • HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
  • Bulk Earthworks or heavy civils experience (preferred).
  • Proven track record working on tenders ranging up to £15m.
  • IT proficiency with MS Office (Excel) and CANDY estimating software.
  • Chartership or similar incorporated status (desirable).
  • Exceptional communication, people/team management, influence, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to ensure tender submissions are both feasible and profitable.
  • Valid UK driving license to allow travel to live projects across the region.
