Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and communicative individual to fill the role of Patient Pathway Administrator within the Neurosurgery Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the department, managing patient pathways, and providing administrative support to consultants and their teams.

Main Responsibilities

  • Act as the designated point of contact for consultants and clinic teams, ensuring consistency across the service.
  • Coordinate cover in times of leave and sick to ensure service continuity.
  • Deal proactively and efficiently with telephone enquiries from patients, carers, GPs, and other service users.
  • Manage follow-up appointments, inpatient admissions, and other administration to ensure patients are tracked effectively through their 18-week pathway.
  • Oversee the booking of clinic appointments, manage correspondence, and ensure that urgent matters are dealt with properly.
  • Transcribe clinic letters, general correspondence, and reports using the digital dictation system.
  • Ensure that all patient referrals are dealt with according to Trust processes, efficiently and effectively in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with the Assistant Service Manager to ensure effective clinic management.

Person Specification

  • Administrative experience and competence in the use of various computer software packages.
  • Previous experience within an administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong computer skills, ability to work as part of a team, and experience of dealing with stressed or upset individuals in an empathetic manner.
