About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our team at Tameside Council. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Environmental Services Manager in providing engineering input on projects, strategies, and policies at a local, regional, and national level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering advice and design support for schemes and guidance to other engineers and service areas to assist with the delivery of the Council's capital and revenue programmes.
  • Lead on the preparation of outline and detailed civil engineering designs, technical/commercial specifications, drawings, and schedules.
  • Instigate and ensure delivery of Section 38 Agreements, including serving Advance Payment Code notices under the Highways Act 1980, monitoring income from S38/S278 contributions, and ensuring bond calculations for developments have been prepared correctly.
  • Work closely with developers as required under Sections 38 and 278 of the Highways Act 1980 and provide advice to colleagues in other service areas to ensure a one-Council approach to highway adoption.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience of working within a Civil or Structural Engineering field.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality infrastructure design and project management, including a strong track record of working collaboratively with stakeholders and as a technical expert within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of using computer packages, completing tasks to potentially conflicting deadlines, supporting change and innovation of office processes and procedures, and motivating others.
  • Ability to work under pressure to demands, provide high-quality business support, and communicate with a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent organisational skills, flexibility, and ability to work at pace with attention to detail.
