The Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our innovative team, responsible for creating the tools our scientists need to develop, test, build, and enhance our quantum networking solutions.

As a member of our agile software team, you'll work closely with scientists and engineers to define requirements, design solutions, and maintain and test deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop software in Python and Rust to interface with proprietary optics, electronics, and mechanical hardware, as well as third-party scientific equipment.
  • Collaborate with FPGA and electronics system integration specialists to enable state-of-the-art quantum network control systems.
  • Design user interfaces for streamlining product demonstrators and measurement control.
  • Contribute proactively to improving our workflows and system design.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Ability to solve complex problems and communicate solutions to a diverse audience.
  • Proactive thinking and a positive mindset.
  • Dedication to delivering well-tested and reliable code.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience designing software to control test equipment or other hardware.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience writing firmware for embedded microcontroller applications.
  • Experience working with Agile or Agile-inspired methodologies.
  • Knowledge of workflows for continuous integration.
  • Design skills for graphical or web-based user interfaces.
  • Experience using Python for scientific measurement and data analysis.
  • Masters or PhD degree in a relevant subject.
  • Familiarity with or experience of gathering requirements for and contributing to complex software applications.
  • Software source control and release processes.
  • Development in additional programming languages.
  • Development on Linux and Windows.
