Job Purpose:

As a Building Control Project Manager at HSB Group, you will apply your building regulation knowledge to assess and process building regulation applications, as well as work with builders and/or technical staff to develop excellent customer relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess building regulation applications for all types and sizes, acting as the primary contact for the client during the design phase and any design amendments during the construction phase.
  • Ensure projects are checked and monitored with accuracy, completing statutory consultations in correct timescales and verifying adequate evidence for design.
  • Contribute to the assessment of building regulation applications for other types of developments.
  • Pre and post-design negotiations with clients to ensure effective compliance with the Building Regulations and technical issues.
  • Assist in resolving problems relating to Initial Notices, design approvals, site work, and final certificates.
  • Examine detailed drawings and supplementary information in accordance with specified procedures and performance targets.
  • Issue site and type approvals to clients promptly to specified standards and guidance.
  • Advise and guide the industry and public regarding Building Regulations, technical issues, and company standards.
  • Promote company services to existing and potential clients.
  • Support inspection staff with expert advice and communication of key stages for inspection staff relating to complex Building Control elements.
  • Carry out site inspections as required to meet business needs.

Requirements:

  • Technical knowledge of Building Regulations.
  • Basic understanding of general insurance principles and terminology.
  • Good understanding of construction standards.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage workload and work towards deadlines.
  • Ability to create positive working relationships with construction professionals and members of the public.
  • Fully qualified Surveyor (MRICS, MCABE, MCIOB, or similar) with relevant experience is desirable but not essential.
