Job Overview:

The Financial Times is seeking a skilled Deputy Payroll Manager to join our team. As a key member of our payroll department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll processes.

In this challenging and varied role, you will work closely with managed service payroll providers to manage pay, maintain compliance, and deliver excellent service. You will also provide timely responses to employee payroll and pension queries, maintaining a high standard of integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as an in-house expert on payroll matters, providing advice on pay, tax, social security, pensions, and deductions.
  2. Coordinate and manage the payroll process from data entry to reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payroll legislation.
  3. Coordinate pension and benefits processing, ensuring compliance with the Pensions Regulator.
  4. Provide timely responses to employee payroll and pension queries, maintaining a high standard of integrity.
  5. Serve as the point of contact for customer and partner concerns regarding payroll-related issues, working closely with HR, Finance, and payroll providers.
  6. Lead and mentor the Payroll & Benefits Administrator, conducting regular performance reviews.
  7. Keep process documentation up to date, including annual payroll calendars with payroll providers and the global payroll calendar.
  8. Participate in payroll system projects, including the development of an integrated payroll-HR database, and manage external audit requests as required.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing, proficiency in interpreting and applying payroll rules and regulations, and advanced proficiency in Excel and payroll systems.

Salary: The estimated salary for this position is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
