Volunteer Parkrun Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Weekend Event Volunteer Coordinator to join our team at Active Herefordshire & Worcestershire. As a key member of our event staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our weekly timed 5k run.
About the Role:
- Coordinate volunteers on event day, ensuring that all roles are covered and that volunteers have a positive experience.
- Work closely with our events team to develop and implement strategies for volunteer recruitment and retention.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, and other organizations to promote our event and recruit volunteers.
- Manage volunteer communication, including email updates and reminders.
- Conduct training sessions for new volunteers.
Requirements:
- No specific level of fitness is required for this role.
- No equipment or skill is required, although a smartphone with the Parkrun virtual volunteer app may be beneficial for some tasks.
- Able to work in any conditions suitable for running, including inclement weather.
- Able to bring a portable chair if needed due to mobility issues.
Working Conditions:
- Session duration: maximum 90 minutes.
- Session frequency: every Saturday morning.
- Event start time: 0900 hours.
- Event finish time: usually 1000 hours.
Salary Information:
We offer a competitive salary of £12 per hour, which translates to an estimated annual salary of £24,960 based on 40 hours worked per week. This is a great opportunity to earn a decent income while making a difference in your community.
