About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Handler to join our Fleet and Specialist product team at Acorn Insurance Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for proactively managing a portfolio of Fleet and Specialist products in motor claims from start to settlement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate all claims for indemnity and fraud, ensuring accurate and timely decision-making.
  • Assess liability, including communication of our decision, to ensure effective claim resolution.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with claimants and representatives, ensuring timely communication and key information gathering.
  • Accurately assess quantum claims using relevant tools and resources.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize indemnity spend through commercial decision-making.
  • Proactively manage diaries to monitor and progress cases, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Apply and investigate to ensure accurate reserves in line with company guidelines.
  • Account for own performance against set objectives, adhering to best practice and key strategies.
  • Effectively manage files and portfolios, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Assist with coaching and mentoring of less experienced handlers, promoting knowledge sharing and development.
Requirements
  • Strong insurance background with a working knowledge of indemnity.
  • Persuasive, strong, and confident communicator with the ability to relationship manage.
  • Ability to use own initiative to explore all options to achieve the best outcome for the business.
  • Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, promoting collaboration and open communication.
  • Ability to work in a culture of openness, trust, and respect.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to fact-find and analyze information to result in accurate decision-making.
  • Significant PI and/or credit hire claims experience, commercial market awareness, and extensive working knowledge of the Pre-Action Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules, and hourly rate costs.
  • Experience of handling injury claims outside of the Low Value Personal Injury claims Portal.
