We are working exclusively to find a skilled Quantity Surveyor for our client, a leading company specialising in innovative precast reinforced, pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete products.

The company is the largest independent producer of pre-stressed bridge beams in Britain, offering a comprehensive range of beam profiles as well as bespoke reinforced and post-tensioned products tailored to individual project needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Procurement Support: Assist with procurement and commercial management on designated projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost control.
  2. Sub-contractor Management: Oversee sub-contractor accounts, variation accounts, and payment processing to maintain smooth project progress.
  3. Material Procurement Support: Liaise with buyers to identify buying opportunities and assist with materials procurement.
  4. Cost Control and Reporting: Monitor project costs, prepare regular reports, and submit valuations to stakeholders.
  5. Contract Compliance: Develop an understanding of contracts, specifications, and pricing to ensure adherence to conditions throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Sub-contractor Selection: Collaborate with the Project Manager to select suitable sub-contractors and ensure they receive necessary information for project execution.
  7. Contractual Discussions: Engage in discussions with the Project Manager regarding contractual issues.
  8. Project Progress Monitoring: Measure project progress, prepare final accounts, and facilitate receipt of payments.
  9. Payment Processing: Process sub-contractor requests for payments efficiently.
  10. Monthly Reporting: Contribute to the compilation of monthly cost/valuation reports and cash flow updates for designated projects.
  11. Estimates and Negotiations: Provide support for estimates and negotiations on future projects when required.
  12. KPI Data Management: Collect and collate monthly KPI data information for project evaluation.
  13. Compensation Events: Identify, record, and price compensation events, variations, and additional works effectively.
  14. Databases and Filing: Maintain databases and electronic filing using the in-house PIM system accurately.
Requirements:
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Project software.
  • Communication and Attention to Detail: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Transportation and Travel: Possess a full Driver's License and own vehicle; all business travel mileage is reimbursed.
  • Time and Workflow Management: Ability to manage time and workflow efficiently to meet project deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Relations: Build effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners at all levels.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Desired Qualification: A Quantity Surveying Degree would be beneficial for this role.
  • Acceptable Qualifications: HNC/HND qualification in surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction/Project Management.
What We Offer:
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00am - 17:00pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
  • Annual Leave: 24 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays (including birthday off)
  • Pension Scheme: Nest Pension scheme with 3% employer contribution and 5% employee contribution

A valid full driving license and personal vehicle are essential requirements for this role.
