About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to join our team at European Tech Recruit. As a CPU Hardware Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of a brand new and competitive CPU architecture, and defining interfaces between hardware, firmware, and operating systems for systems based on it.

You will be working closely with a wider team of experts, architects, and other professionals to turn client requirements into reality, bridging architectural excellence and user experience.

This is an onsite working position, with offices in various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop CPU architectures, including RISC-V cores
  • Define interfaces between hardware, firmware, and operating systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure client requirements are met
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in CPU architecture
Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Working experience in software development, including C programming and knowledge of low-level assembler programming languages
  • Understanding of CPU architecture and micro-architecture features
  • Familiarity with ARM/RISC-V/MIPS architecture and current CPU core micro-architecture
  • Strong understanding of modeling microprocessors using higher-level languages like C/C++
  • Prior working experience with technologies such as AVX, SVE, SME, CCA, and Morello/CHERI
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CPU design and development
  • Knowledge of compiler design and code optimization
  • Familiarity with system-on-chip (SoC) design and firmware development
