Nursery Teaching Assistant

About the Role

This position involves working as a Teaching Assistant in a specialist school for children with Autism, Complex Social Needs, and varying levels of academic ability. The role requires a caring and empathetic individual to support students who have severe learning challenges, some of whom also have physical disabilities.

The successful candidate will work closely with the teaching staff to ensure that each student receives the best possible education, while maintaining their safety and well-being. This includes implementing various therapies and holistic processes to promote academic progress, social skills, and emotional development.

Main Responsibilities
  • Providing physical support and care to students with complex needs.
  • Developing and implementing tailored educational programs to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Fostering positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
  • An understanding of Autism and related conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Working Environment

This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. You will be based in a specialist school for children with Autism, where you will work alongside experienced educators and therapists to provide high-quality support and education.
