Health and Safety Specialist

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team at Malaberg. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in implementing and maintaining health and safety standards that protect our people and ensure our compliance with regulatory requirements.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Implement and monitor health and safety policies and programs to ensure a safe workplace according to legal guidelines and best practices.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures to minimize hazards.
- Organize and conduct training sessions on health and safety practices and regulations for staff.
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions and report findings to management.
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures.
- Participate in continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols and techniques.
- Assist with other operational administrative tasks as needed to support the overall efficiency of the facility.
**Requirements:**
- Aspiring health and safety professional with up to one year of experience or newly certified.
- Hold a NEBOSH certification or be in the process of certification, demonstrating foundational knowledge and commitment to health and safety practices.
- Possess a keen interest in learning and growing within the field, with a proactive attitude towards enhancing workplace safety.
- Strong organizational skills and effective communication abilities, collaborating across teams to implement safety protocols and manage administrative duties.
- Proficient in MS Office; working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
- Able to motivate others, ask questions, and engage effectively to promote safety awareness.
