Mivan Marine Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimating Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for the accurate estimation of costs and the preparation of tender documentation for submission to potential clients.

Main duties will include:

  • Acting as the lead estimator during the tender preparation and coordinating the compilation of the tender submission.
  • Preparing enquiry documents using the most appropriate methods, including the internet, approved databases, and the Conquest Enquiry Management Suite.
  • Sourcing and assessing supplier and subcontract quotations at the most advantageous terms to the Company and in compliance with any specific contract requirements.
  • Preparing accurate Bills of Quantities from drawings, specifications, and schedules of finishes.
  • Preparing analytical estimates from first principles and where necessary as a check against subcontract quotations.
  • Reviewing and commenting on design options and reporting findings and recommendations on cost, quality, and availability during the tender adjudication meeting.
  • Calculating site management and preliminary costs.
  • Arranging and chairing tender adjudication meetings, including preparing relevant documentation and ensuring that any actions are completed and incorporated within the final submission.
  • Monitoring and overseeing the compilation of tender submission documents, which may be prepared by others.
  • Preparing tender submissions.
  • Participating in final negotiations.
  • Arranging and attending handover meetings on successful tenders.
  • Post-tender and post-contract discussions and cost considerations, including evaluation of the contract.
  • Assisting in the training of other members of the estimating team by disseminating relevant information regarding construction methods, programmes, construction outputs, and contract conditions and the potential implications.
  • Undertaking any other duties within the Job Holder's sphere of knowledge, experience, or competency as requested.

Successful candidates must have previous estimating experience within the fit-out industry. Estimating experience in Joinery or Marine projects would be an advantage. Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills are required, and candidates will be required to take a proactive and organized approach with the ability to work to strict deadlines in a dynamic environment. Candidates must have excellent IT skills with experience in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience using Conquest or similar estimating software packages is preferable.
