Laser Plasma Diagnostics Industrial Placement Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic placement student to join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). As a member of our EPAC Detectors Group, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in laser plasma diagnostics, developing and commissioning novel diagnostic schemes on the EPAC facility.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and test new diagnostics and equipment
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to install and operate diagnostics
- Develop and utilize analysis codes
- Communicate results and techniques to the wider team
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
- Able to commence employment in summer 2025
- Good understanding of basic physics concepts (optics, electromagnetism, lasers)
- Computer programming experience (e.g. Python, C++)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Demonstrate good team working capabilities
