Job Title: Supplier Performance Manager

Thales is a global leader in the aerospace, transportation, defence, security, and space industries. We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Performance Manager to join our team in Belfast, UK.

Job Summary:

The Supplier Performance Manager will play a critical role in improving the performance of our supply chain, ensuring that our products and services meet the highest quality standards. This is a 18-month fixed-term contract opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with key suppliers to improve their quality systems, production processes, and capabilities.
  • Manage supplier quality and delivery performance through the use of continuous improvement techniques, performance reviews, and other action plans.
  • Act as a conduit to improve the operational interface between Thales and the supplier, using lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation sharing, co-design, and development to benefit both parties.
  • Support Thales Group activities during supplier crisis management.
Requirements:
  • Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work closely with others and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Good project management, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Good risk and opportunity management, including robust mitigation plans.
  • Relationship management skills, including addressing issues at executive level and shop floor.
  • Strong business acumen, supply chain, operations management, logistics, and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Facilitation skills, including working with suppliers and Thales entities.
  • Business and operational planning knowledge, including MRPII, S&OP, and capacity management.
Experience:
  • Demonstrable history of managing performance improvement projects, preferably in defence, aerospace, security, and transport sectors.
  • Understanding and knowledge of quality management principles and systems.
  • Supply chain engineering experience in a low to medium volume environment, light mechanical/electro-mechanical production environment, or other relevant sectors.
  • Awareness and use of continuous improvement techniques and practical implementation of lean manufacturing.
  • Experience of operational management, manufacturing, and ERP systems, including routings, BOMs, concessions, change requests, etc.
  • Broad process knowledge, including machining, assembly (both mechanical and electronic), and test.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and freely, as well as produce high-standard documentation for project and external use.
  • Working in ISO 9001/AS 9100 environments.
Desirable:
  • Business acumen, awareness of organisational models, markets, and technologies.
  • Track record of stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Understand practical problem-solving skills and techniques, including 8D, DMAIC, 8D, and PDCA.
  • Understand lean and flow management.
Qualifications:
  • MCIPS/EIPM.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent, with specialised knowledge of engineering disciplines, such as hardware, software, or quality.
