Senior Product Development Engineer - Composite Specialist Lead

This role is a Hybrid working opportunity where you will join a leading player in zero-emission vehicles as a key member of their team.

About the Role:
  • Improve composite material selection and process development
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
  • Design composite moulds and approve parts
  • Deliver tangible business improvements
  • Solve problems in a manufacturing environment
  • Drive process mapping and continuous improvement techniques
  • Train and develop staff
  • Manage ERP & MBOM and routing generation
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business
  • Support Research and Development into new production methods and materials
  • Coordinate new GRP design concepts through to full production
  • Ensure the composite facility has adequate tooling to support NPI
  • Produce build drawings and workshop procedures
  • Maintain high standards of personal accountability
Manufacturing Capabilities:
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes are safe and meet required quality standards
  • Responsible for GRP design for manufacture and evaluation of mould designs
  • Specify processes, methods, equipment, and tooling to improve safety, quality, and cost
  • Create standard work instructions for composite components and assemblies
  • Identify and specify tooling requirements and approve them for production use
  • Ensure product process maps are optimal and up to date
  • Assist with labour and material allocation via estimates or time study activities
  • Interpret engineering drawings and update MBOMs with appropriate routings
  • Generate and analyse production data to make data-driven decisions
