Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our design engineering team in Keynsham, Bristol. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing specialized machinery utilizing SolidWorks to meet customer expectations and requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop equipment concepts and schemes that can be assembled, built, and commissioned safely and effectively.
- Produce technical information, drawings, and associated schedules and documents, adhering to H&S requirements, designs, specifications, and standards relating to the project.
- Maintain drawing files and records throughout the duration of the project.
- Be the primary technical contact for the CAD/PDM system, liaising to resolve day-to-day problems.
- Work in conjunction with the Network Manager to oversee the required activities to implement CAD/PDM software & hardware updates and upgrades.
- Attend visits with colleagues to customers to commission & test machines and resolve problems.
- Ensure as-built specifications are recorded, and system function is tested and proven prior to commissioning.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve the performance & reliability of equipment through innovative design improvements and where appropriate the use of new emerging technologies.
- Educated to degree level or HNC/D level or equivalent qualification in a mechanical engineering or design discipline.
- Experience in 3D modelling with SolidWorks is required.
- Any packaging industry knowledge or special purpose machine design would be of particular interest.
- Project management skills and the ability to assess risk.
- Ability to negotiate and positively influence customers during the project process.
- Current driving license and passport are required for this role as travel will be involved to customers from time to time.
