The Opportunity:

Avantor is currently seeking a skilled Shipping Technician to join our team in Cambridge, UK. As a key member of our Samples Dispatch facilities, you will play a vital role in supporting day-to-day operations.

This is a full-time, permanent position based in our brand-new facility at the Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working Hours:

Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 17:00

The Team

You will join a team of 6 Samples Dispatch Technicians, responsible for receiving, packing, preparing, and shipping biological samples. Our business department, Lab and Product Services, supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories worldwide in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: High school or equivalent experience
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience in shipping is desirable, particularly in warehouse or logistics environments.
  • Collaboration Tool: Familiarity with stock ordering and warehouse management software is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, pack, prepare, and ship R&D samples globally, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and transport regulations.
  • Dispatch goods, ensuring accurate documentation and labelling meets IATA/ADR/IMDG, Health and Safety, CLP (GHS), and customs standards.
  • Supervise materials with special handling, storage, or distribution requirements, such as hazardous shipments and temperature-critical materials.
  • Proactively track shipments and investigate any missing shipments or errors.
  • Creation, maintenance, and updating of relevant documentation in support of service delivery, compliance, and training.
