Job Summary:

We are seeking a Principal Fire and Explosion Safety Specialist to join our team in Barrow-in-Furness. As a key member of our Safety and Environmental Team, you will be responsible for leading the development of explosion safety strategies and providing guidance to junior engineers.

The successful candidate will have a degree in a STEM discipline and experience working in an explosion safety engineering environment. They will also be required to mentor junior engineers and review DSEAR risk assessments.

This role comes with a competitive salary of £68,000 per annum and a range of benefits including a pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance, and access to flexible working arrangements. Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development of explosion safety strategies
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineers
  • Reviewing and producing DSEAR risk assessments

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in a STEM discipline
  • Experience of working in an explosion safety engineering environment
  • A thorough understanding of Hazardous Area Classification (HAC)
  • COMAH - Control of Major Accident Hazards (Safety Case support) experience
