Assistant Shop Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Shop Manager to join our team at Mencap's Derby Donation Centre store. As an Assistant Shop Manager, you will play a key role in helping our store reach its full potential and contribute to the success of our charity retail operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement in-store systems to maximize profits and promote donations.
  • Represent Mencap as an efficient and charitable organization, ensuring that your actions align with our aims and values.
  • Ensure stock is generated from the local area and donors, and maintain a high standard of presentation throughout the store.
  • Manage financial and cash handling, and ensure health and safety standards are met.
  • Build and lead an effective volunteer team, providing training, development, and appraisals.
Requirements:
  • Experience as an assistant manager or supervisor, with a proven track record of maintaining budgets and completing financial tasks.
  • Flexibility in working hours and days, including weekends and Bank Holidays as required.
  • Ability to travel to team meetings, training events, and other store openings as needed.
  • Passion for the Mencap values and commitment to ensuring our Retail brand is successful.
