Assistant Shop Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Shop Manager to join our team at Mencap's Derby Donation Centre store. As an Assistant Shop Manager, you will play a key role in helping our store reach its full potential and contribute to the success of our charity retail business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement in-store systems to promote donations and sales, ensuring maximum profits.
  • Work closely with the store team to achieve profit targets, manage costs, and maintain a high standard of presentation.
  • Build and lead an effective volunteer team, providing training, development, and support to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Manage all financial and cash handling aspects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an assistant manager or supervisor in a retail environment, with a track record of maintaining budgets and achieving sales targets.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and Bank Holidays, and travel to occasional team meetings and training events.
  • Passion for the Mencap values and commitment to ensuring our Retail brand is successful.
