About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is proud to be supporting a Chester-based SEND school as they seek a dedicated and reliable teaching assistant to support pupils with complex and profound needs. The ideal candidate will have recent experience supporting children/young people/adults with complex needs, as well as a strong understanding of ASD and non-verbal communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with complex and profound needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Work towards individual EHCPs and implement a pupil-centred approach to education
  • Monitor pupil triggers and escalation points to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Aid in behaviour management using positive behaviour techniques, including sensory therapy and de-escalation

Requirements

  • Full "Right to Work" in the UK
  • Recent referenceable experience supporting children/young people/adults with complex needs
  • Strong understanding of ASD and non-verbal communication
  • Ability to take a pupil-centred approach to education
  • Comfortable with personal care
  • Commitment to full-time hours (8:30am - 3:30pm)
