Job Title: Lead Engineer - CFD Methods

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer - CFD Methods to join our Andretti Cadillac team at the Silverstone facility. As a key member of our Aerodynamics department, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers responsible for delivering CFD capability through improvement to existing capabilities or the development of new methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical lead and management of the CFD Methods group.
  • Develop the CFD methodology to continuously improve predictive accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of aerodynamic simulations.
  • Collaborate with aerodynamicists, CFD, and software engineers to optimize methodologies and deliver a fit-for-purpose CFD process.
  • Work closely with the correlation group with respect to the analysis of experimental data.
  • Ensure that CFD simulations and analysis carried out within the department are aligned with the capability of the tools.
  • Define best practices for meshing, turbulence modeling, and solver settings.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate CFD software packages and tools.
  • Oversee the optimization, maintenance, and support of new and existing toolkits.
  • Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in CFD technologies.
Requirements:
  • Multiple years' relevant experience in a similar role within the motorsport industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid physics, numerical methods, and turbulence modeling.
  • Experience in programming (C++, Python, Java, or VBA) and experience with STAR-CCM+ and open-source CFD codes.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to line manage/lead teams effectively.
  • Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
  • Clear and concise communication.
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
