Job Title: English Teacher

Location: Darwen, Lancashire

Salary: £30,000 - £49,084 per annum

Contract: Full time, FTC until July 2025

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified English teacher to join our team in a SEN school in the Lancashire area. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English to students aged 11-19 with ASD/SEMH needs, including autism and specific learning difficulties such as Dyslexia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, taking into account the educational, physical, and social needs of students in a learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain and use short, medium, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalized targets to optimize learning for each student.
  • Monitor, assess, review, and report on student progress to parents, team members, senior staff, examination, and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as required through school policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate and take responsibility for own professional development.
Requirements
  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • Ability to teach English up to GCSE level.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profile.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behavior, including managing behaviors that challenge.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
