Your Sanctuary is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Empowerment Advocate to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of female survivors of domestic abuse.

About the Role

We are looking for a capable, calm and proactive individual to work closely with our Refuge management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the service by covering a range of tasks from processing referrals to providing monitoring information and organising visits from external agencies/organisations.

As part of our team, you will provide direct key working cover on an ad hoc basis and share your experience and offer guidance as needed to our Support Workers. You will also have responsibility for the efficient upkeep of the refuges, supervising our house-keeping service and liaising with our facilities manager.

What We're Looking For

  1. A deep understanding of what it means to work in a trauma-informed environment
  2. Experience of supporting survivors of trauma, not direct personal or medical care
  3. Expert knowledge of issues relating to domestic abuse and relevant support services
  4. Knowledge of safeguarding and issues such as welfare rights, housing legislation etc.
  5. Supervisory experience
  6. Strong organisational, administration and IT skills
  7. The ability to remain calm in potentially stressful situations and work well as part of a team
  8. A full UK driving licence and a car that can be used for work purposes
