Job Title: Passenger Transport Escort/Driver

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and skilled driver to join our team as a Passenger Transport Escort/Driver.

Key Responsibilities:

* Drive a range of vehicles for the Passenger Transport Services, both within and outside of the borough, according to capability, licence and suitable training.

* Carry out basic vehicle checks and routine maintenance tasks, such as checking water and oil levels, tyre pressures, to ensure the vehicle is working efficiently and is roadworthy before being used on the public highway.

* Drive with due regard to other road users and conform to all Road Traffic Regulations and Codes of Safe Working.

* Ensure passengers in the vehicle are seated in a safe and secure manner using on-board safety equipment.

* Maintain the vehicle in a clean condition by regularly washing and cleaning using the necessary equipment and protective clothing.

* Complete all necessary paperwork as required for timesheet, fault reporting and other purposes.

* Assist other employees by carrying out related tasks as agreed, such as assisting escorts.

* Drive each journey in the most economical way based on the current conditions.

* Take the appropriate steps in the event of an incident, accident or a breakdown and follow the current written reporting procedures.

Requirements:

* Full UK Driving Licence with Category DI entitlement or PCV entitlement.

* Experience of working with children, vulnerable and disabled persons.

* Experience of passenger carrying, such as children.

* Ability to manoeuvre vehicles and drive in confined areas.

* Ability to accurately fill out paperwork, such as timesheets, to recognise addresses etc.

* Ability to talk to members of the public or other Council employees with tact and patience.

* Ability to read a map.

* Knowledge of First Aid.

* Demonstrate experience of being a flexible and collaborative member of a team.

* Demonstrates an enthusiastic and caring approach to working with others.

* Ability to maintain a good standard of appearance whilst on Council duties.

* Ability and willingness to undertake varying driving duties.

* Demonstrates good Customer Care.

* Able to undertake light manual handling duties, such as handling people in wheelchairs.
